JULIE MONTGOMERY WOOD, BS, LMT
OWNER, DIRECTOR

Instructor: Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Hydrotherapy
Julie holds a B.S. in Biology with honors from Rhodes College and is a graduate of The Massage Institute of Memphis.  She maintained a private therapeutic massage practice for four years.  She has attended several AMTA and ABMP instructors’ conferences.  Julie thoroughly enjoys teaching Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, and Hydrotherapy.

DAN WOOD, LMT

Supervisor: Student Clinic
Dan is a graduate of The Massage Institute of Memphis and has practiced therapeutic massage since 1991.  He has furthered his education through workshops and seminars including Sports Massage with Benny Vaughn, Injury Evaluation with Ben Benjamin, Reflexology with Pierre Bolszak, and an intensive study of Myofascial Release at The Chicago School of Massage Therapy.  Dan has also attended several ABMP instructors’ conferences.  His lectures and hands-on classes include sports massage, stretching and strengthening, specific techniques, assessment, hydrotherapy and more.

KAREN E. CRAIG, BA, LMT
Director of Massage Theory and Practice
Senior Instructor: Massage Theory and Practice
Supervisor: Student Clinic
Karen holds a B.A. in Education with honors from the University of Central Florida and received a diploma in massage therapy from American College of Natural Healing Sciences.  Since 1976, she has practiced and taught massage in California, Alaska and Tennessee.  Karen founded The Massage Institute of Memphis in 1987.  A charter member of the TN chapter of the AMTA, she served for six years as the Director of Education.  She holds a massage license in Tennessee, and a Massage Therapy Instructor’s license in Arkansas.  She has attended many AMTA council of schools leadership and instructors’ conferences and ABMP instructors’ conferences.  Karen has been a consultant for several massage research studies at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Karen leads the basic massage section of the program as well as charting and documentation, body mechanics, reflexology, TN law, and meditation.

CINDY McKEE, BS, LMT
Director of Student Clinic
Cindy holds a B.S. in Environmental Sciences from Ramapo College and is a graduate of The Massage Institute of Memphis.  She has furthered her education through workshops and seminars in massage therapy.  Cindy currently practices crystal therapy and Healing Touch energy techniques in her sessions.   As director of the Student Clinic, Cindy assists students in completing clinical practice.

TERESA GEOGHEGAN BROWN, LMT
Instructor:  Massage Theory and Practice, Allied Modalities
Teresa began her career in massage therapy in 1997 after graduating from the Massage Institute of Memphis.  In her years of experience she has studied a variety of modalities and energy traditions including Reiki, shamanic studies, aromatherapy, healing sound vibration, Thai-Yoga bodywork and Myofascial work. She is certified in Pre/Post Natal massage and Infant massage instruction.  Teresa weaves together her education, experience, open heart, and intuition meeting her students where they are and facilitating a space of personal and professional growth.

LYNDA GAYLE DEACON, BA, MA, LMT, HTCP
Instructor: Sciences
Lynda Gayle holds a M.A. in English and Writing from the University of Memphis, a B.A. with honors from Rhodes College, and a diploma in Massage Therapy from The Massage Institute of Memphis.  She has taught college level English and writing, as well as English, writing, history, and Latin on the elementary and high school levels.  She is a Healing Touch Certified Practitioner and a Healing Touch for Animals Practitioner.  In addition, Lynda Gayle teaches continuing education in aromatherapy at the Massage Institute of Memphis.

ADJUNCT LECTURERS
Our adjunct lecturers are a group of highly qualified therapists who present a variety of demonstrations in related therapies such as Acupuncture, Manual Lymph Drainage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Shiatsu, Thai Massage, Structural Integration, Myofascial Release, and others.  Additionally, the topics of Business, Ethics, and Law are covered by adjunct lecturers with specific knowledge for these areas.
